Born in London, singer-songwriter Jack Peñate has been out of the limelight for a while, after his newest album Everything Is New, released in June 2009, despite receiving positive critical acclaim, has not performed as successfully as his October 2007 debut album, Matinée. Jack's first release, December 2006's Second, Minute Or Hour, was on the Young Turks label (and the label's first release) also home to The xx and Holy Fuck. After the 1000-only 7" sold out, famed label XL Recordings picked him up, and he released the Spit At Stars E.P. as his first release on XL in April 2007. His next single, June's Torn On The Platform, charted at #7 on the UK charts and has been his most successful single to date. The reissue of Second, Minute Or Hour came out in September, with the debut album coming out the next month, and charting at #7 on the album charts. The album's final single was Have I Been A Fool?, released in December, which only charted at #73. Jack went back into the studio after this, and released the more electronically-faced Everything Is New, with its first single Tonight Today being released in March 2009. Spit At Stars' video is below, as are the downloads.
