Hadouken!

Leeds five-piece Hadouken! have become one of the 21st Century's most infamous bands due to the style of music that they brought mainstream, known as "grindie", where the stereotypical indie sounds of guitars and bass are crossed with the beats and raps found in the grime genre. Naturally, the abrasive sound that lead vocalist James Smith uses in the group's songs have become Marmite-esque, i.e. you either love it or hate it. The group formed in 2006 and also formed their own label, Surface Noise Records, on which they released their first single, That Boy That Girl, in February 2007, which caused their grindie sound to become incredibly popular. In June of the same year, their second single, Liquid Lives, was released and charted at #36; their highest chart position so far. Annoyance was soon to follow with the release of their Not Here To Please You Mixtape in USB format only in November; the mixtape itself featured new tracks, including the single Leap Of Faith, that were unavailable anywhere else (except You Can't Be That, which was a b-side to Liquid Lives) but due to the nature of the mixtape, the tracks are unable to be obtained cleanly, and the band did not offered them for download. The group's debut album Music For An Accelerated Culture was released on 5th May 2008, with the singles Get Smashed Gate Crash released before it in March, and Declaration Of War, which was released the day before the album. Final MFAAC single Crank It Up was released in July, and none of the album's singles charted well; the highest being Declaration Of War which reached the heights of #66. The group's newest album, the darker For The Masses, was preceded by the M.A.D. EP and the single Turn The Lights Out, although reviews have reportedly given the view that only fans of the group will like it, unlike the first album which is more accessible. Declaration Of War's video is below, followed by the downloads.
