Late Of The Pier

Leicestershire four-piece Late Of The Pier have been compared to the likes of Klaxons in both sound and subject matter, but Late Of The Pier have been around for longer than Klaxons, with the group forming in 2004, although some of their material was written as long ago as 2001. The group first got the attention of the music media when they self-released their Zarcorp Demo in 2007, with a single, Space And The Woods, released from the demo in March. This was followed by a release in September, Bathroom Gurgle, as part of the Moshi Moshi Records Singles Club, which gained them an improved media image and a signing to Parlophone, although the third single from the group, March 2008's The Bears Are Coming, was self-released by the band's Zarcorp label. The group's first single under the Parlophone label was the re-issue of Space And The Woods as part of a double-A side with Focker in May. This was followed up by the issue of Heartbeat on the same day as the vinyl version of their first album, Fantasy Black Channel, on 4th August, with the CD version the week after. Heartbeat has been the group's only charting single, but it only reached a disappointing #98 on the UK Charts. The final single from the album was a 12" re-issue of Bathroom Gurgle in October. The band went quiet for most of 2009, with the only action being the issuing of the Blueberry single in December, with its respective AA-side Best In The Class released in March 2010. Bathroom Gurgle's video is below, with the downloads.
