The Maccabees

Known as one of the most middle-class groups of the past few years, Brighton five-piece The Maccabees formed in 2004 and quickly made an EP, You Make Noise, I Make Sandwiches, which was released on the fledgling Haircut Records label in August of that year. This was followed up by a November 2005 release of debut single X-Ray, which was to be their only release on the Promise Records label before having follow-up single, the infectious Latchmere, released in April 2006 for what was to be their only release on Fierce Panda Records. A very limited signed picture disc 7" and CD combo of Precious Time was the group's first release on Fiction Records in August, with the first single from the group's forthcoming debut album, First Love, dropping in October, and was their first to break the Top 40, coming in at #40. About Your Dress came soon after in February 2007, hitting #33; the quintet's highest charting single so far. The full release of Precious Time preceded the album, Colour It In, which was released on 14th May. Toothpaste Kisses was then released as two different formats: an EP in October, and as a single in January 2008. The group were then mainly out of action, with drummer Robert Dylan Thomas leaving the group in order to go into rehab. No Kind Words, the first new material from the darker Wall Of Arms, was released as a free download in March 2009, with first proper single Love You Better following in April. The album came afterwards in May, with the album's last proper single Can You Give It? issued in July. Wall Of Arms was reissued in January 2010 after rapper Roots Manuva reworked No Kind Words and named it Empty Vessels, which was released on a 12" in November 2009. About Your Dress' video is below, followed by the downloads.
