Klaxons

Apparent pioneers of the "new rave" genre (the term being coined by Angular Records founder Joe Daniel), four-piece Klaxons have been heavily influenced by rave music and the occult since their founding in 2005. The group released a set of demo tracks under their own name in February 2006, before their debut single Gravity's Rainbow was released in March on the aforementioned Angular Records label to much critical acclaim. This was followed in April by Atlantis To Interzone, first issued as a 7" only, before a 7" + 12" remix set was released the month after. This got the attention of Polydor, who gave the band their own imprint of Rinse Records after they signed in August. Australia's influential electro-based label Modular Recordings released the Xan Valleys EP~ on 16th October, with the first release from the group's forthcoming debut album, Magick, coming out 2 weeks later. 22nd January 2007 saw the quartet's most successful single so far, Golden Skans, which hit #7, released. The group's highly revered debut, Myths Of The Near Future, came out the next week and also won the 2007 Mercury Music Prize. Post-album singles Gravity's Rainbow and their cover of the club classic It's Not Over Yet released in April and May, with both charting in the Top 40. As Above, So Below was released as an exclusive 12" in France in November, but did not chart. The band's long-awaited second album, Surfing The Void, comes out on 23rd August. The original version of Gravity's Rainbow is below, as are the downloads.
