Mumm-Ra

Quaint Sussex quintet Mumm-Ra formed in June 2000 with all the group's members still at school. They self-released their first three EPs: 2004's Mumm-Ra The Everling, 2005's The Dance In France and spring 2006's The Dance On The Shore. After this, their first proper release - a limited clear 7" of What Would Steve Do? which was only available at gigs from April 2006 - got the attention of Columbia Records, who promptly signed them and released the group's first major EP, Black Hurts Day And The Night Rolls On., in July, which had good media reception. This was followed in October by the first single from their forthcoming album, Out Of The Question, which hit #43 in the UK Charts. February 2007 saw the group's highest charting single, the full release of What Would Steve Do?, issued, and it hit the UK Top 40 at #40. The group's last single, She's Got You High, was released 2 weeks before the album, These Things Move In Threes, was released on 28th May. From this point onwards though, the band collapsed. After their fourth single Starlight was cancelled for unknown reasons, the band cancelled all remaining dates of their UK Tour to focus on writing for their second album. But on 17th April 2008, the group released a statement saying that Mumm-Ra were no more, with no reason given, although speculation points the blame at Columbia for cancelling the Starlight single. Some members of the group then went on and formed the darker band Mirrors in May 2008. Song B's video is below, with the downloads afterwards.
